Phoenix Publishing & Book Promotion Meetup
Our regular venue is Spoke & Wheel Tavern, 8525 N. Central Avenue, in Phoenix. We typically meet the 2nd Saturday at 1 p.m. and the 4th Tuesday at 6:30 p.m., but sometimes this changes, so check the actual Meetup announcements.About Phoenix Authors
This blog is a group effort, undertaken by a few of the members of the Phoenix Publishing & Book Promotion Meetup. Each contributor has agreed to publish one blog post per month, on all aspects of their writing. Though a post may not seem germane to the the subject of books, rest assured that all topics are welcome, as our authors explore their books, the life's work that led them to write their books, their audiences, their own challenges and successes, and their literary inspirations, among other topics.
Please be aware that each post represents only the opinion of its writer and is not reflective of the group as a whole, or of Laura Orsini, the Meetup organizer.
We welcome your polite feedback! And if you're in Phoenix, please stop by our Meetup (generally the second Saturday and fourth Tuesday of the month) to say hello!Reach Us

The Marvelous, World-Expanding McClellan Saddle
The Marvelous, World-Expanding McClellan Saddle by Lesley Sudders I stared in exasperation at what everyone called “the small saddle.” Small or not, hoisting it to Betsy’s back was beyond my abilities at age eight. Betsy, half-Shetland and half-ornery horse, glanced … Continue reading

Happy Whatever by Lesley Sudders There’s something in December that makes people pause. We love our rituals, but none so much as those that occur as the year winds down. Ages ago, sages of many cultures figured out the winter … Continue reading

Public Speaking – I’d Rather Die!
Public Speaking – I’d Rather Die! by Lesley Sudders Dramatic declaration, but true for many fearful souls. The fear of speaking in public, according to surveys, outweighs the fear of flying, dogs, snakes – and yes, death. Writers may be … Continue reading

The San Francisco Earthquake
The San Francisco Earthquake by Lesley Sudders I can only imagine what my English grandfather, George Henry Sudders, was doing at 5 a.m. on April 18, 1906. After crossing the Atlantic and traversing the U.S. by train, he was probably … Continue reading
